Weight & Size Guide
Weight & Size Guide
Choosing the right fit is the first step to water safety.
At Snuggly Surprises Limited, we recommend choosing a float based primarily on your child's weight and chest circumference rather than age alone.
| Float Type | Recommended Age | Weight Limit | Max Chest Circ. |
|---|---|---|---|
| Newborn Neck Float | 0 - 12 Months | Up to 11kg (24 lbs) | N/A (Neck fit) |
| Chest Float (Pro/Classic) | 3 - 24 Months | 6 - 18kg (13-40 lbs) | 52cm (20.5 in) |
| Waist Float (Toddler) | 2 - 4 Years | 12 - 28kg (26-61 lbs) | 58cm (22.8 in) |
| Big Kids Armbands/Vest | 3 - 8 Years | Up to 30kg (66 lbs) | Adjustable |
How to Measure Chest
Use a flexible measuring tape around the widest part of your baby's chest (just under the armpits). Keep the tape snug but not tight. Our harnesses are adjustable, so if your baby is exactly at the limit, we recommend sizing up to the next category.
Between Sizes?
If your toddler is 2 years old but weighs 14kg, they can use both the Chest and Waist float. Choose the Chest Float if they are still learning balance, or the Waist Float if they are ready for more arm freedom.
Safety First Checklist
- ✅ Never "size up" for growth; the float must be snug now.
- ✅ Always check that the 5-point harness is tightened before entry.
- ✅ Ensure the safety tail is attached for babies under 12 months.
